One of our favorite North Coast wineries created this fine wine with grapes from vineyards just west of Santa Rosa in Sonoma County. Black cherry and red currant aromas with hints of dried herbs and cocoa powder lead to classic Merlot fruit flavors, herbal tones and suppleness, making it a perfect match for grilled steaks or other simply prepared red meats.
Grapes for this little treasure come from a long ago abandoned North Coast “ghost” vineyard rediscovered 15 years ago surrounding the grounds of an old brick kiln used back in the 19th Century. Its classic Merlot aromas of ripe plum and red cherry, flavors of lush red fruit, wonderful structure and rich, ripe tannins make it a nice pairing with milder meats, mushroom dishes and soft cheeses.
Here’s a versatile wine that complements most meat dishes. Bold enough to stand up to barbecued foods yet is a good choice with mild to medium cheese dishes. A medium-bodied yet stylish Merlot with rich aromas and flavors of blackberry, plum and currant, showing subtle hints of herbs. Created by one of California’s most revered winemaking teams and one of our favorite Central Coast wineries.
This 2012 Merlot is a wine you’ll fall in love with on the first silky, smooth sip you take. Inviting aromas of sweet berry and cherry jump out of the glass, while harmonious flavors of berry, plum and spice create a deliciously full-bodied taste experience. Enjoy it around the fireside or alongside your dinner plate as the perfect complement to roast chicken, beef roast or even thick, juicy burgers.
