This wonderful Chardonnay is a limited production wine created as a tribute to one of California's pioneering vineyard families. It has a refreshing "say no to oak" style – bright and light with citrus, apple and tropical fruit aromas and flavors. A gentle acidity adds structure while allowing the delicate fruit flavors to shine. Versatile and food-friendly, it makes a good choice with seafood, poultry, or pasta dishes with butter-based sauces.
This fruit forward Chardonnay offers up aromas of ripe grapefruit and freshly sliced apples. The vines sit along the coast line where the cool winds off the Pacific ocean cool off the vines which allows them to retain crisp acidity and bright flavors as they ripen on the vine. On the palate the flavors are clean and balanced, with elegant notes of soft vanilla, ripe melon, and a hint of honey. This wine will be paired beautifully with baked fish topped with a creamy butter sauce. This is the type of wine that can be enjoyed during any occasion.
The Morse Code Chardonnay is produced to allow the fruit to be apparent and forward, but with the subtle use of oak to compliment and add a level of complexity. This cool climate wine has lifted aromas of lime, citrus blossom and hints of fennel as well as some background cashew notes from the subtle use of oak. The wine tastes of candied citrus and pear, with a textural element from lees stirring and background oak characters adding some nice complexity. The palate has good acidity and shows minerality characteristic of Padthaway, with a fine and lingering finish. The fruit was sourced from the Estate’s Padthaway vineyards, of red loamy soil over limestone. A proportion of this wine was naturally fermented in new French barrels and a little over 20% of the wine was matured on lees with batonage in French barrels for a period of four months. You don't need a code to figure out this is a delicious wine
