This Month's Wine Notes …
by Sharon Rosenbaum, Senior Wine Buyer
I've known Tom Burgess for 25 years. At that time he was already a Napa Valley legend, producing lush and rich Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel. I've been visiting the winery for years now but the most exciting event each year is the new release tasting. Wines are sampled from barrel and bottle and there are always a few that captured everybody's attention. The 2002 Napa Zinfandel became the most talked about wine at the tasting. True to the Burgess style, it is superb and one of the best the wine panel has tasted all year. It is a showcase wine, rich and lush and
pure of flavor and aroma. This Burgess Zinfandel is a great value (at only $10.99 per bottle) and retails for as much as $20 a bottle.
Be sure to try the Burgess Zinfandel with our featured recipe - BBQ Salmon. What a pair they make!
