This is a classic Cabernet, a pure clean king of reds, featuring black currants, black berry and cedar with back notes of dry herb while black fruits highlight the refreshing finish. A harmonious and balanced Cab with velvety tannins and ripe black fruit flavors of blackberry and cassis. Licorice and cedar add complexity to a smooth finish.
Our expert wine panel are always quick to sing the praises of Burke Family wines. “There’s something very familiar about these wines,” one of them explained. “These are the wines that set the pace for other winemakers. If you’re looking for the epitome of a Cabernet, try out the 2013 Burke.” Don't mind if I do!
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the better known red wine grape varietals worldwide. Known as a prominent Bordeaux wine, expect to find it blended with Merlots and Cabernet Franc. California Cabernet’s are regarded nearly as highly as their French cousins, especially after the famed 1976 Judgment of Paris when a California Cab beat out some of Bordeaux’s best in a blind test by French experts. It’s also the second most planted grape in Washington State, after Merlot, and is also planted in Arizona, New York, Texas and Virginia. Cabernet wines are dense, dark and tannic and many have a strong black fruit flavor.
This is one of the Granddaddy winemakers of California, with ages of experience to his name and awards covering the walls of the winery. He doesn’t just make great wines, he makes the wines that other wine makers copy.
