2014 Hayton Family Chardonnay
An invigorating “say no to oak” style Chardonnay, the 2012 Hayton Reserve Family Chardonnay is bright and light with citrus, apple and tropical fruit aromas and flavors. You’ll notice a gentle acidity on your first sip that adds structure to the wine’s intricate tastes and creates a palate cleansing finish that allows the delicate fruit flavors to shine through. Our expert wine panel found this Chardonnay rejuvenating. “You drink so many Chardonnays when you’re tasting wines all around California,” one of the panel said while shaking her head. “This is something new.” What really struck the panel was Hayton’s decision to do away with oak barrels. “This is crisper and more fruit driven than an oak-barreled wine,” another of the panel explained. “A nice change of pace.
Chardonnay is a wine that’s welcome anywhere, any time. A tropical, green apple tinged white wine that’s softer on the palate than Pinot Grigio, a fellow mainstay of the California white wine world, Chardonnay wines tend to be lean, crisp and highly acidic. While the first plantings of the grape in California began in the middle of the twentieth century, California Chardonnay’s reached worldwide prominence in 1976 along with California’s Cabernet Sauvignon when both wines took home victories in the famed Judgement of Paris blind taste test by French experts. California currently hosts a quarter of the world’s Chardonnay plantings, while the grape is also planted in New York, Washington and Oregon, as well as parts of Canada. Enjoy it with a saucy seafood dish.
Made by a producer of award winning boutique wines from Napa Valley, this Hayton Chardonnay is a limited production wine created as a tribute to one of California's pioneering vineyard families.

A nice wine to serve when the weather's nice. My partner and I like to bring out a bottle of the Hayton Family Reserve Chardonnay when we're having our monthly tapas nights with our church group.

Loved this wine! I like pinot or sav blanc over chardonnay and this did not disappoint.
