2014 Longchase Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon
California's Central Coast is home to some of the most important Cabernet plantings in the state, and this full-bodied classic is produced by one of the top wineries in the region. It features big, ripe blackberry aromas, flavors of plum, currant, and berry with just a hint of toasty oak. Gentle tannins carry fruit flavors through a clean, crisp finish that brings out the very best in sautéed or roast beef and favorite lamb dishes. Our wine panel showed up with a case of the Longchase Vinters Cabernet Sauvignon dressed in all black with berets and sunglasses. We asked them about their get up and they looked at each other and smiled smugly. “This Cabernet got us feeling pretty stylish,” one of the panel said. “There’s something about it that has a bit of an edge.” Another put on a John Coltrane album and added, “The toasty oak taste and the fruit flavors make this wine pretty groovy.” The panel seemed to enjoy the wine so much, we decided to not remind them what year it was.
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the better known red wine grape varietals worldwide. Known as a prominent Bordeaux wine, expect to find it blended with Merlots and Cabernet Franc. California Cabernet’s are regarded nearly as highly as their French cousins, especially after the famed 1976 Judgment of Paris when a California Cab beat out some of Bordeaux’s best in a blind test by French experts. It’s also the second most planted grape in Washington State, after Merlot, and is also planted in Arizona, New York, Texas and Virginia. Cabernet wines are dense, dark and tannic and many have a strong black fruit flavor.
Longchase sources their wines from heritage vineyards along California's rugged Central Coast. This Cabernet Sauvignon features some of the earliest and most important plantings in the state.

No a bad wine but enjoyed the Black Fox and Saddlehorn much better. Was ok for me with red meat.

I was absolutely blown away with this wine! My mother-in-law only likes white wines, but I let her take a sip of this one, and she said that this was one red she would drink! I am buying a case of it, and saving for special occasions!

This wine is awesome. I love the solid oak barrel taste. It might even trump my old favorite, Rodney Strong cabernet. Ordered a case.
