Your Extra Day Off Mixed Trio includes one bottle each of these weekend-worthy wines:

2015 Marcel Malbec

Marcel Malbec is a robust and rich red from the French countryside east of Bordeaux. Château du Cèdre farms with no herbicides or chemicals, and these grapes yield savory but slightly tart flavors of plums, blackberry, and smoked meats. Possessing firm tannins, Marcel Malbec is structured and concentrated, yielding a deep, complex wine.

2014 Nebla Old Vine Garnacha

Known as Grenache in France, Garnacha wine originated in Spain, where it is sought out for its juicy and smooth profile. 2014 Nebla Old Vine Garnacha was grown on 35-year-old vines in Valencia. Aromas of red fruits and notes of smoke and cedar begin on the nose and are joined on the palate by fleshy plum and a hint of black olive, leading into a long, berry-laden finish. We love this resolutely Mediterranean wine with paella and roasted meats.

2015 Domaine du Grand Mouton Muscadet Sevre et Maine

This refreshing and dry Loire Valley white opens with notes of beeswax, orange blossom, seashell, and honeyed pear. The aromas follow through to the palate where they are joined by a nice, chalky minerality, notes of lemon, and a long finish. This mouthwatering white is the perfect pairing for oysters and shellfish, and pleases Sauvignon Blanc lovers looking for something a little fuller.

Your Mixed Case of the Mondays includes one bottle each of:

2015 Longchase Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon - California

Light and versatile California Cabernet Sauvignon with tasty flavors of raspberry and cherry that gain complexity through a baking spice note. 2015 Longchase Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon is the bottle you want to uncork with a pizza, a couple friends, and your favorite John Coltrane album (we suggest Live at Birdland).

Award Winner: Silver Medal, 2017 SF Chronicle, Silver medal, 2017 Winemakers Challenge International Wine Competition; Silver Medal, 2017 West Coast Wine Competition

2013 Fair Oaks Zinfandel - California

Fair Oaks’ claret-style Zinfandel is packed with rich berry jam flavors and hints of black pepper and anise. A nice touch of acidity creates a clean, food friendly finish. Our expert wine panel enjoyed it from appetizers through to dessert and wished they had more.

Multiple Award Winner: Gold Medal, 2017 West Coast Wine Competition; 88-point Silver Medal, 2016 Toast of the Coast Wine Competition; 87-point Silver Medal, 2016 Monterey Wine Competition; Silver Medal, 2016 West Coast Wine Competition

2015 El Portal Red Blend - California

One sip of this bold and flavorful red, and we can see the landscape near the California coast: ocean breezes, rich soil, clear sun… 2015 El Portal Red Blend balances Zinfandel and Merlot with vivid Syrah to create a food-friendly blend with flavors of black cherry, followed by notes of vanilla and mocha.

2016 Nguilleu Cabernet Sauvignon  - Central Valley, Chile

Named for a sun-like, fruit-bearing plant that grows in the southern Andes mountains, Nguilleu wines are emblematic of the balance of tradition and innovation that characterizes the growing Chilean wine scene. 2015 Nguilleu Cabernet Sauvignon is a smoky and savory take on this beloved red wine varietal. Tart flavors of cherry, cranberry, and red currant ride along on silky tannins, mingling with a smoky overlay that starts on the nose and floats through to the finish. We suggest pairing this powerful red with spicy, rich foods, like Mexican pork with red sauce.

Award Winner: Bronze Medal, 2017 International Eastern Wine Competition

Val di Botte Nero d'Avola - Sicily, Italy

Bold and sweet Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s preeminent grape, creating charismatic wines with unmistakable fruit flavors, subtle notes of smoke, and nuances of spice. When sipping Val di Botte Nero d’Avola, you’ll enjoy a strong presence of blackberry and plum, with hints of licorice and chile pepper. Try pairing it with gamy meat dishes like oxtail stew, or anything with applewood-smoked bacon.

2015 Haut Vignac Périgord - Perigord, Southwest France

The grapes in 2015 Haut Vignac Périgord are grown near the Dordogne River in beautiful southwest France, and produce an attractive, ruby red wine. This thoughtful blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc engages the drinker with fruity and pleasant aromas. The first sip delights with a soft and fruity flavor, rounded out by soft tannins. Indulge in this wine whenever you want to savor something beautiful, but be sure to keep a bottle or two on hand next time you’re enjoying grilled food.

The 2015 vintage of this California institution won three Gold Medals in different international wine competitions. Expectations have been running high for the new vintage, and we’re proud to report that it delivers on its promise. Notes of green apple, grapefruit, and fig add an enticing complexity to this fruity and crisp white wine. Sip it with a bite of a dry cheese, like Parmesan.

Award Winner: Silver Medal, 2017 West Coast Wine Competition

2016 Bayshore Vintners Pinot Grigio  - California
