2013 Monarch Glen Merlot
This Merlot is a wine they’ll fall in love with on the first silky, smooth sip you take. Its inviting aromas of sweet berry and cherry jump out of the glass, while harmonious flavors of berry, plum and spice create a deliciously full-bodied taste experience. Enjoy it all on its own around the fireside, or alongside your dinner plate as the perfect complement to roast chicken, beef roast or even thick, juicy burgers.
2013 Burke Family Cabernet Sauvignon
Here’s a spectacular wine coming from one of the Granddaddy winemakers of California, with ages of experience to his name and awards covering the walls of the winery. This is a classic Cabernet, a pure clean king of reds featuring lack currants, black berry and cedar with back notes of dry herb while black fruits highlight the refreshing finish. This is a great food wine perfect for meats and mushrooms, stews and meat loafs. A harmonious and balanced Cab with velvety tannins and ripe black fruit flavors of blackberry and cassis. Licorice and cedar add complexity to a smooth finish.
2012 Fair Oaks Zinfandel
Californians love their oak trees and the people at Fair Oaks are no exception. Their winery is named for the two giant oak trees that form the gateway to the vineyard. California’s love for Zinfandel is almost as old as their love for these majestic trees. Known as the “authentic red” of California, Zinfandel plantings can be traced back to the time of the gold rush in the mid-century. The 2011 Fair Oaks Reserve Zinfandel continues this storied history by using heritage vine, vineyard and oak to produce a light, bucolic wine. Fruity and jammy with gentle tannins, this is an ageless wine.
2012 Geja's Big Bold Red
This wine is a red blend with a fierce attitude that forces you to sit up and pay attention. Old-vine Zinfandel grapes take the lead, giving the Big Bold Red a classic “big” wine taste. The Zin’s presence makes this a dry table wine with jammy black fruits. The real spine in the blend comes from the Petite Sirah’s pepper notes that help the Big Bold Red find it’s structure. Add in the red fruits from the Syrah and we have a truly remarkable wine on our hands.
2013 Black Fox Cabernet Sauvignon
The Black Fox Cabernet is a fruit-forward classic example of a great California Cabernet. Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the better known red wine grape varietals worldwide. Known as a prominent Bordeaux wine, expect to find it blended with Merlots and Cabernet Franc. California Cabernet’s are regarded nearly as highly as their French cousins, especially after the famed 1976 Judgment of Paris when a California Cab beat out some of Bordeaux’s best in a blind test by French experts. It’s also the second most planted grape in Washington State, after Merlot, and is also planted in Arizona, New York, Texas and Virginia. Cabernet wines are dense, dark and tannic and many have a strong black fruit flavor.
2013 River's End Merlot
This wine comes to use from the Godfather of Central Coast winemakers as wines using this master’s techniques have gone on to win a plethora of awards. It features a similar profile to the Longchase Cabernet Sauvignon, albeit a much softer one, that features inviting aromas of sweet dark berry in the nose are echoed with harmonious flavors of berry, plum and spice.
2013 Spencer Sauvignon Blanc
Crisp flavors of grapefruit and green apple with note of ripe fig distinguish this fruit-forward, award-winning selection. Produced from a vineyard established more than 100 years ago by descendants of European winemakers, its grapes provide a marvelous complexity and balance. The winemaker recommends serving this delicate treat with grilled or sautéed seafood in a butter or cream sauce. And, it brings out the best in veggie dishes like spinach and cheese-stuffed pasta shells.
2013 Moon Crest Sauvignon Blanc
The Mooncrest winery takes its name from their practice of harvesting their wines by the light of the moon. Nighttime harvests take advantage of the cool of the evening when the air is the crispest and purest, as Mooncrest is already a cool weather vineyard with temperatures kept moderate by the Pacific Ocean. This is a traditional California Sauvignon Blanc with a taste of freshly mowed sweet grass. You’ll find back notes of green apple, almonds and a hint of vinegar on the balanced finish.
2013 Hayton Family Reserve Chardonnay
Made by a producer of award winning boutique wines from Napa Valley, this Hayton Chardonnay is a limited production wine created as a tribute to one of California's pioneering vineyard families. A refreshing “say no to oak” style Chardonnay – bright and light with citrus, apple and tropical fruit aromas and flavors. A gentle acidity adds structure and creates a palate cleansing finish while allowing the delicate fruit flavors to shine.
2013 Cannery Row Chardonnay
Based in Monterey County along California’s famed Central Coast, the talented winemaker blended fruit from a cool-climate vineyard along the Arroyo Seco riverbed with a small lot from a warm inland valley. The result: a stylish, delicious, classic California Chardonnay. Its fresh fruit aromas lead to flavors of apple, nectarine and ripe juicy melon. A hint of toasty oak and vanilla from oak aging adds depth and complexity, while a balancing acidity keeps it refreshing.
2013 La Petite Tour Classic White
La Petite Tour wines were introduced more than 30 years ago. This blend of white grapes has remained the family's favorite. It was only made in small lots for their own table, until now. Exclusive to Wine Insiders, it is a delicately aromatic, medium-bodied wine with flavors of ripe pear and surprisingly bright citrus notes. And, it’s a versatile food wine, that pairs well with fish, grilled chicken or vegetables.
2013 Bayshore Pinot Grigio
The Bayshore Pinot Grigio comes from one of the earliest Pinot Grigio vines planted in California in the mid-seventies before the grape became popular. Since then Pinot Grigio has grown into the so-called “princess” of white grapes and Bayshore continues to produce truly regal wines. This wine features a full flavor spectrum of citrus fruits and melons with a crisp turn of acidity to carry the fruity flavors through the wine and boost the flavor. This is a real hammock wine for you to enjoy in your backyard or at the dinner table with curries or Asian cuisine.
