Reds of the World 6-Pack
We've put togther a selection of red wines sourced from all over the world with one goal - to showcase they style and character of the region it is produced in. The following wines are included in our Reds of the World 6-Pack
Nebla Old Vine Garnacha - Valencia, Spain
Known as Grenache in France, Garnacha wine originated in Spain, where it is sought out for its juicy and smooth profile. 2014 Nebla Old Vine Garnacha was grown on 35-year-old vines in Valencia. Aromas of red fruits and notes of smoke and cedar begin on the nose and are joined on the palate by fleshy plum and a hint of black olive, leading into a long, berry-laden finish. We love this resolutely Mediterranean wine with paella and roasted meats.
Marcel Malbec I.G.P. Comté Tolosan - Cahors, France
Marcel Malbec is a robust and rich red from the French countryside east of Bordeaux. Château du Cèdre farms with no herbicides or chemicals, and these grapes yield savory but slightly tart flavors of plums, blackberry, and smoked meats. Possessing firm tannins, Marcel Malbec is structured and concentrated, yielding a deep, complex wine.
Pavillon La Tourelle Bordeaux - Bordeaux, France
Pavillon La Tourelle’s unique wines draw their character from the soil, climate and winemaking traditions that make up Bordeaux’s inimitable terroir. This blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon is a vivid red with medium depth and clean but intense cherry and black currant flavors. Pavillon la Tourelle is an enjoyable, supple, smooth wine with an easy finish.
Free Flight Cabernet Sauvignon- Monterey, California
This wonderful red from Monterey, California takes flight in the glass. Aromas of ripe cherries and black currant migrate to the palate, where they land gracefully with a chirp of spice and a nice touch of oak. 2012 Free Flight Cabernet Sauvignon pairs with a flock of foods, from grilled and braised meats to rich tomato sauces.
Tremo Maceracion Carbonica Tempranillo - Spain
Carbonic Maceration is a cutting edge winemaking method where a carbon dioxide rich environment is used to ferment juice inside the grape. This results in very fruity wines with very little mouth-drying tannins. While most popular in France, Bodega Luis Alegre is using Carbonic Maceration in Spain on masterfully grown Tempranillo and Viura grapes for a juicy wine with an aromatic nose of raspberry, cherry and slight violet notes. Soft acidity provides just enough balance for fresh fruit notes that meet licorice on the finish.
Cantus Sangiovese di Puglia IGT- Puglia, Italy
Classics started off great, and developed into something respected, excellent, refined, and reliable. Think gourmet grilled cheese, your favorite singer’s surprising 10th album, or Sangiovese wine--the most famous Italian grape, known for its delicate and elegant fruitiness. Cantus Sangiovese di Puglia IGT croons from the glass with supple berry flavors, silky mouth feel, and a lively encore.
