Bondaree Shiraz (Austrailia)
From southeastern Australia’s Riverina region comes 2015 Boondaree Shiraz. This full-bodied red is a dense crimson in the glass, catching the eye with youthful purple hues. The bouquet offers aromas of ripe cherry and plum entwined with earthy hints of dark chocolate and spicy oak. The dark chocolate continues to the palate, where it is joined by spicy berry fruit and a subtle tannin finish. 2015 Boondaree Shiraz is terrific with foods with big, bold flavors. Open a bottle next time you’re having barbecue or a burger.
Tremo Maceración Carbónica (Spain)
Carbonic Maceration is a cutting edge winemaking method where a carbon dioxide rich environment is used to ferment juice inside the grape. This results in very fruity wines with very little mouth-drying tannins. While most popular in France, Bodega Luis Alegre is using Carbonic Maceration in Spain on masterfully grown Tempranillo and Viura grapes for a juicy wine with an aromatic nose of raspberry, cherry and slight violet notes. Soft acidity provides just enough balance for fresh fruit notes that meet licorice on the finish.
