Albarrada is a new and exclusive winery that makes amazing wine that showcases local grapes. This red wine (or vinho tinto, in Portuguese) features a local grape, called Castelão. Native to the soils of Portugal, Castelão. It is unusual, finding a better home in the drier and harsher climate of Portugal than the normally more grape friendly soils of temperate climates. When well cared for, the wine that results is aromatic and fruit-forward with notes of red berries and slight hints of floral notes.
The wine is a violet red color and the aroma is of fresh red fruit—raspberries and cherries—along with notes of herbs and toasted coffee beans. The aromas follow through on the palate with red fruits, spices and bittersweet chocolate. It is an elegant wine with juicy concentration and persistence.
Full of ripe fruit right from the outset. Raspberry, strawberry, plum and black currant notes can all be found, even on the nose. These flavors continue through the palate to the finish. This wine aims to be one that can be opened anytime and pair with your favorite everyday foods like pizza, pasta, and grilled meats.
Val Di Botte Toscana Rosso I.G.T.
Up front flavors of raspberry and strawberry with hints of roasted pepper and fresh herbs like thyme. The finish is light to medium with a smooth tannin structure. We recommend you open and let it breathe before consuming. Enjoy with margherita pizza with fennel sausage or a pasta dish like Spaghetti Bolognese.
Lot 456 Lodi Field Blend
Beautifully aromatic, with spicy raspberry, jammy blackberry, and delicate floral notes lingering right out of the glass. On the palate, the wine proves rich and warm, with lavish raspberry and savory plum notes that persist through its long finish. Big structure as well – definitely a wine you can age another 5-6 years. Dynamite juice has given this blend tremendous breadth and texture – a perfect wine for your next steak or summer BBQ.
Big Cirrus Single Vineyard Estate Syrah
Maule is on the rise in Syrah production as this noble grape is growing in demand and popularity. Enjoy fruit flavors of blueberry, blackberry, wrapped in hints of pepper, violets, clove and thin layers of vanilla with every sip of this beautiful Reserva wine from Maule Valley located in central Chile.
House Party Moscato
Here’s a luscious seasonal favorite from one of our favorite California winemakers, featuring fragrant, fruity aromas and flavors of peach and ripe apricot, with hints of citrus and a refreshing sweetness that leads to a bright, crisp finish. A wine made to sip on a sunny afternoon near the pool, or serve it as a perfect complement to a light chicken or crab salad, a hearty vegetarian pizza, fresh fruit and mild cheeses, or a classic dessert like strawberry cheesecake or apple crisp.
Portugal is truly a wonderland of exotic grapes that many in America have never been exposed to before. This Albarrada white, an exclusive wine, is a great example. Bringing together two white grapes native to Portugal, Roupiero and Rabo-de-Ovelha, that most Americans have never sampled, this exotic wine is a great way to be introduced to the wonderful grapes of Portugal.
